Waalwijk/Doetinchem – Raak Metals Group and Interbaro Recycling are forming a strong partnership. Both originally family-owned companies share a common vision for high-quality metal recycling and circular value creation. By combining knowledge, capacity, and infrastructure, they create a powerful alliance ready to take the next step in the sustainability of the metal processing chain in the Netherlands.

As part of this collaboration, Interbaro Recycling will become part of Raak Metals Group. This growth expands the group into one of the largest metal recyclers in the country, with a combined processing capacity of nearly 200,000 tons of metal per year and a turnover of approximately EUR 150 million. This strategic move underlines Raak Metals Group’s ambition to be a leader in the circular transformation of the metal industry.

Expansion of specialist services and regional coverage

Founded in 1970, Interbaro Recycling specializes in the dismantling and processing of complex metal products such as transformers, electric motors, and cables, with an annual processing capacity of around 50,000 tons. The addition of Interbaro enables Raak Metals Group to significantly expand its services in industrial dismantling. Interbaro’s expertise lies in completely dismantling installations into directly usable raw materials, an approach that perfectly aligns with Raak Metals Group’s circular philosophy.

“This collaboration fits perfectly with our mission to pioneer the energy transition.” said Sylvester van de Logt, CEO of Raak Metals Group. “Interbaro’s expertise in processing transformers, cables, and complex electrical installations strengthens our position as a partner for energy companies. Together, we can create even more value from metal streams that would otherwise be lost.”

Preservation of identity, expertise, and employment

Interbaro will continue operating from Doetinchem under its trusted name, maintaining its flexible, customer-oriented approach. The experienced team will remain fully intact, ensuring continuity in service and quality for all clients.

“We are proud that Interbaro and Raak Metals Group are moving forward together.” said Albert de Witte, CEO of Interbaro Recycling. “This partnership gives us access to a broader network and more opportunities to support our customers. At the same time, we retain our long-standing expertise and personal approach. For our customers, this means more possibilities with the same trusted service.”

Support from Gilde Equity Management for accelerated growth

The growth ambitions of the new entity are supported by Gilde Equity Management, major shareholder of Raak Metals Group. With their experience scaling industrial companies, Gilde contributes actively to the group’s strategic development and further professionalization.

“Raak Metals Group demonstrates again through this acquisition its ability to grow strategically in the metal recycling sector.” said Eschwin Hetzenauer, Managing Partner at Gilde Equity Management. “Interbaro’s specialist knowledge combined with Raak Metals Group’s scale advantages forms a powerful combination. We want to give circularity a real boost by further professionalizing the metal recycling market.”

Strengthening the circular economy and sustainable chains

Integrating Interbaro into Raak Metals Group enables the offering of an even more complete service package: from collection to dismantling, sorting, and delivery of high-quality secondary raw materials. This synergy results in a more efficient and future-proof recycling chain. Together, Raak Metals Group and Interbaro invest in innovation, digitalization, and CO₂ reduction, reinforcing their role as drivers of a sustainable economy and as a crucial link in the production of renewable energy sources.
