Raak Metals is a recycler of ferrous and non-ferrous metals with more than 100 years of history. Through its locations in Tilburg, Best and Elst, Raak Metals offers a complete service to its customers, including container services and (on-site) disassembly. Through the acquisition of Martens Metaal in 2018, Raak Metals also adopted an expertise in the disassembly and recycling of transformers, power cables and cast iron.
In 2020, Gilde was welcomed as an investor by owner and CEO Maarten van Raak under whose leadership Raak Metals claimed a leading position. Maarten van Raak was looking for a partner who could support Raak Metals in its next phase of growth. Since then, Raak Metals has transformed into an urban mining company.
Through a targeted buy-and-build strategy, including the acquisitions of Stolwerk Metaal (Breda), Knobel Metaal (Roosendaal), Van Erp Metaal (Den Bosch) and Interbaro Recycling (Doetinchem), Raak Metals has grown into the largest recycler in the south of the Netherlands with leading position in the collection and recycling of metals from large corporate clients and specialized recycling of groundcables and transformers. The company is positioning itself as the largest metal recycler between Rotterdam and the Ruhr area and aims to increase its recycling capacity from the equivalent of approximately 20 to 40 ‘Eiffel Towers’ of metal per year.
