Rational Grootkeukentechniek sells Rational combi-steamers to the professional kitchen segment. Apart from importing and distributing combi-steamers, the company provides maintenance services as well as user training. Gilde and the incumbent management acquired Rational from its owner in 2000.

Following a period of strong growth in the Dutch market for professional kitchen equipment, Rational set its sights on new market segments. The organization currently sells to hotels, restaurants, hospitals and (care) institutions, as well as butchers and caterers. The company's management acquired Gilde's stake in 2004.
