Coldec is the largest producer of coloured (paint) flakes in the world. Paint flakes are used as a decorative component in wall, ceiling and floor coverings. Through ongoing investments in new technologies and product diversification, Coldec has managed to retain its strong market position. In addition to coloured flakes, the company markets a unique range of high-quality decorative products to both the professional and consumer segments.
The company's most important markets are Germany and France, supported by sales in the Benelux and the Nordic region.
Gilde and the incumbent management jointly acquired Coldec from its founders in 1996, by means of a management buy-out. Gilde sold its stake to Coldec's CEO in 2008.
