Gjaltema, Dutch Steigers and LSB Group join forces

Gjaltema, Dutch Steigers and LSB Group are joining forces. This creates a nationwide Dutch scaffolding group with strong regional positions in the Northern Netherlands, the Randstad, the Southern Netherlands and Belgium. As family-owned businesses, the three companies share the same DNA: craftsmanship, safety, local entrepreneurship, close relationships with customers and pride in their work. In addition, the companies are known for working closely with clients as proactive partners, strengthening collaboration across the construction chain and, as industry pioneers, continuously investing in innovation.

Gjaltema has long been an established name in scaffolding and the rental of aerial work platforms, telehandlers, construction lifts and supporting equipment, with locations in Groningen, Leeuwarden and Moerdijk. Dutch Steigers and its sister company Hollandia Steigerverhuur bring a strong position in Amsterdam and the Randstad, with extensive experience in construction, renovation and restoration projects in a complex urban environment. LSB Group is the regional market leader in the Southern Netherlands and Belgium and serves clients in construction, industry and infrastructure from its base in Geleen.

The scaffolding market is evolving, driven by rising demands for safety, sustainability and quality. Gjaltema, Dutch Steigers and LSB Group see this development as an opportunity to take the lead in raising standards across the market. The partnership creates opportunities to invest jointly in equipment, training and digitalisation, and to share resources and expertise. The result is a scaffolding group that does not merely respond to market developments, but actively helps shape them.

For customers, this means they can continue to rely on their familiar local contacts and way of working, complemented by the capacity, innovation and execution capabilities of a nationwide group. By working in close partnership across the construction chain and actively contributing to design, planning and execution, the group is able to support customers even better on complex projects. Operating from five locations – Groningen, Leeuwarden, Moerdijk, Amsterdam and Geleen – and with the largest scaffolding fleet in the Netherlands, the group offers greater reliability and flexibility to clients in construction, infrastructure and industry, with safety as the top priority at all times.

Gjaltema, Dutch Steigers, Hollandia Steigerverhuur and LSB Group will continue to operate under their own names, from their own regions, while retaining their own identities, teams and customer relationships. As part of this move, a new Group Management Board will be established, with Maurice van Avesaath as Chief Executive Officer and Rob van Paassen as Chief Financial Officer. In their respective roles, they will act as the primary points of contact for the group and foster collaboration and growth across the companies.

Maurice van Avesaath, LSB Group: “I am proud that Gjaltema, Dutch Steigers and LSB Group are bringing together three strong regional businesses. Each company has its own history, culture and customer relationships. We want to combine and strengthen those qualities. At the same time, together we have the scale, knowledge and execution capabilities to continue professionalising, keep investing in safety and training, and support and grow alongside customers who increasingly value having a trusted long-term partner. I very much look forward to leading the broader group in my role on the Group Management Board.”

Ronald Zwennes, Dutch Steigers: “For Dutch Steigers and Hollandia Steigerverhuur, it is important that our way of working remains unchanged. Our customers know us for our flexibility, direct lines of communication and solution-oriented approach in and around Amsterdam. By becoming part of this group, we can maintain that trusted level of service while creating more opportunities for knowledge sharing, investment and the further development of our people.”

Patricia Gjaltema, Gjaltema: “Gjaltema has been built on entrepreneurship, commitment and craftsmanship. We recognise that same DNA in Dutch Steigers and LSB Group. I am handing over my role as Managing Director to Maurice and look forward to remaining involved with Gjaltema as an adviser on behalf of the family while closely following the further growth of the group. It makes me proud that together we are continuing to build a strong Dutch scaffolding group that puts safety first, stays close to its customers and employees, and is ready for the next phase of the market.”
